Not Just an Empty Threat: Political Argument on Facebook Ends in Gluteal Wound

443
Hillsborough County Jail

TAMPA — August 8, 2018

On monday night, two men had a political disagreement on Facebook. Things got heated and ended with personal insults and threats. But it didn't end there. One of the men, Brian Sebring, 44, of 4412 Leila Ave, a registered Democrat who follows Barack Obama on Twitter, decided to come and deal with his opponent in person.   Alex Stephens, 46, of 3002 Wallace Ave., without flinching gave  his address to Sebring, reasonably believing that Sebring would not actual carry out his threat.  But he was wrong. Sebring showed up at Stephens house later with a Glock and an AR-15 .

When Sebring arrived — wearing the Glock in a holster on his waistband — he honked his horn and waited by his truck for Stephens to appear. Stephens came out of the home and charged toward Sebring, police said, and that’s when Sebring fired two shots with the Glock, hitting his target in the right thigh and buttock. After that, he surrendered to the police. Stephens suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Sebring was arrested on charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and carrying a concealed firearm, and booked into the Hillsborough County jail. His bail is set at $9,500.

The jail's records show that he is a delivery driver for a pizza company. His Twitter account describes him as a married father of two. Both he and Stephens went to Tampa’s Robinson High School.
