Kansas police officer wounded when suspect opened fire
A Kansas police officer shot multiple times while conducting a welfare check when a suspect opened fire at home late Saturday.
According to the local authorities, the officer, who wasn’t identified, was hospitalized in critical condition.
Two officers conducted a welfare check at about 10 p.m. local time at the residence on W. Carlyle Street in Wichita. Police said, the officers fired back at the suspect killing him at the scene.
“When two Wichita police officers arrived on scene, they began to take fire from a suspect that was inside the residence,” Nicholson said.
“One officer was shot multiple times. He’s been taken to an area hospital.”
