California police detain armed man with drugs and hundreds of stolen recall election ballots
Torrance Police found over 300 sealed ballot envelopes in a car with a sleeping man. In addition to recall election ballots, loaded weapons, Xanax pills, methamphetamine, several hundred other types of mail were seized from the driver.
The arrest of the man was made on August 16th.
“This case is currently being investigated by our Special Investigations Division in partnership with the U.S. Postal Service and the LA County District Attorney Public Integrity Unit. Investigators are trying to figure out how the election ballots ended up in the suspect’s vehicle and what their intent was in having them,” the police said.
According to the authorities, all people whose ballots were found in the car will receive new ones and will be able to vote again.
The suspect's name was not disclosed. The incident took place in a 7-Eleven parking lot. The male suspect was charged with numerous weapons, narcotics and forgery charges.
