Idaho Is on Fire
BOISE – August 14, 2018
Another wildfire has occurred in the state of Idaho, which has been consistently suffering from such fires this summer, local media reports.
Officials with the Eastern Idaho Interagency Fire Center say a wildfire broke out north of the Chesterfield Reservoir on the Fort Hall Reservation on a small portion of state land on Monday.
The fire was estimated to stretch over 1,500 acres on Monday afternoon, but did not threaten any structures and did not prompt any evacuations or closures, officials said.
“Fire managers report that there is line around a large portion of the fire, but the east, southeast portion of the fire is in steep, difficult terrain for firefighters to access,” according to a news release. “The east, southeast portion of the fire is very active and burning in the Rocky Canyon area. Multiple retardant and water drops are being made to slow the fire’s progress. Planes and helicopters are scooping water from the Chesterfield Reservoir.”
