Muslim immigrant throws away 2977 American flags because the US killed over 900K people in revenge for 9/11
The viral video shows Washington University student Fadel Alkilani collecting 2,977 miniature American flags from the lawn to protest Islamophobic hate crimes.
We will #NeverForget the lives that were lost, sacrificed and impacted by the tragic events that took place on 9/11. In remembrance of the fallen, members of the WashU College Republicans planted 2,977 flags — one for each life lost in the 9/11 terror attacks — on Mudd Field. pic.twitter.com/InXpejQIZ0— Washington University in St. Louis (@WUSTL) September 11, 2021
The student began to be harassed on social networks. Despite public censure, Alkilani was not brought to administrative responsibility. In his opinion, he “did not violate any university or legal policy”.
After the incident went viral and Alkilani was harassed on social media. The student made an official statement, where he explained his position. Alkilani said he collected the flags after the United States avenged the 9/11 attacks and killed nearly a million people, including civilians and children, in 20 years.
In a statement, Alkilani says he did not throw any flags. But later, the author of the video, Nathaniel Hope, a member of the WU College Republicans, discovered bags of flags in the trash can.
UPDATE: Despite Fadel Alkilani’s claims that he was not throwing away the flags, the conservative student who recorded the initial footage found flags in a trash can nearby the location of his confrontation just this morning. pic.twitter.com/cUsUCB8QTc— YAF (@yaf) September 12, 2021
