Arizona woman who shot fleeing shoplifter arrested

Phoenix police have arrested a woman suspected of shooting. She opened fire on a man fleeing from a convenience store who had not paid for the goods.

At the moment when he swept past the woman, she shot him once. The man was hospitalized in critical condition.

The suspect was identified as Miriam Shekhmoos. She is charged with aggravated assault following the incident Saturday afternoon in north Phoenix, police told Arizona's Family.

Shekhmoos was booked into Maricopa County jail, according to KSAZ.

In January of this year, there was a similar incident in which a woman also shot a thief but shot a clerk.
