A homeless woman died after being shot in the head in Brooklyn
A 30-year-old woman died after being shot in the head in Brooklyn as the gun violence plunges through the city, police reported on Wednesday.
The shootout took place at the corner of Georgia and Belmont Aves. In East New York at about 8:40 p.m. Three men standing next to her began arguing and at one point one of them pulled out a gun and opened fire and hit the woman in the head.
It is unclear if the woman was involved in the arguing. She was rushed to Brookdale University Hospital but could not be saved.
The victim’s name was not immediately released. But police said the woman is a homeless and came to NYC from Pennsylvania.
All three suspects fled the scene. No arrests have been made.
The street where she was shot is a haven for homeless people, prostitution and drug activity, authorities said.
