New Nord Stream-2 sanctions imposed on Russian-linked company and its vessel Antony Blinken stated
The US has imposed new sanctions on two vessels and one Russian-linked company that are involved in the implementation of the Nord Stream—2 gas pipeline project, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said.
"To Transadria Ltd. sanctions will be applied, and its vessel "Marlin" will be designated as property subject to blocking," the statement of the head of the US Foreign Ministry said.
The Secretary of State did not name the second vessel.
Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov called the new sanctions imposed by the United States against Nord Stream 2 a manifestation of unfair competition.
"Dialogue through sanctions is unacceptable and violates international law," the ambassador said in a statement posted on the diplomatic mission's Facebook page.
The Kremlin on Tuesday said new sanctions imposed by the United States in connection with the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline were illegal and wrong, especially at a time when Moscow and Washington are attempting to rebuild dialog. https://t.co/rTfgS3Er0R— Newsmax (@newsmax) November 23, 2021
Antonov also noted that, "the American administration, whether Republicans or Democrats, has been trying for several years to complicate Russian-European energy cooperation."
"At first, Washington wanted to disrupt the completion of the pipeline. Failed: the highway is laid and ready to start. Now they are trying to delay the commissioning of the facility," the ambassador stated.
