Ghislaine Maxwell's attorney describes her as a "manipulated" victim and a scapegoat referring to Bible

Defense Attorney on Monday described Ghislaine Maxwell as a “manipulated” victim and a “scapegoat” in Jeffrey Epstein’s case.

Maxwell is a key defendant in Epstein’s pedophile case and has been accused of recruiting and grooming minor girls to give the late billionaire erotic messages. During the opening statement of Maxwell’s trial, the state prosecutor described it as a “ruse” for sex sbuse.

However, Maxwell’s defense attorney, Bobby Sternheim, claimed that her client is being scapegoat for Epstein’s crimes.

When it was Sternheim’s turn for her opening statement, the attorney invoked the Bible, comparing the Epstein’s victims to the women condemned for men’s crimes since the beginning of times.

“Ever since Eve was accused of tempting Adam with the apple,” said Sternheim. “Women have been blamed for the bad behavior of men.”

“Ghislaine is on trial here and you heard about the conduct of Jeffrey Epstein. She is filling that hole. And filling an empty chair,” said Sternheim, adding that her client was a “convenient stand-in” for the dead sex offender.
