US government and CDC do not know the exact number of vaccinated elderly Americans

According to Bloomberg, the US government was misinformed by the CDC. Within a few weeks, the vaccinated rate was 99.9 percent, after this mistake was noticed by the media, the CDC website quickly reduced the rate to 5 percent.

“Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention was revised last weekend for the number of people 65 and older who have received at least one shot,” according to Bloomberg.

CDC data show 240 million people with at least one shot, or about 72.5% of the population. But the agency says only 203 million are fully vaccinated, or 61.3%, an 11-percentage-point difference that is far larger than in other developed countries.

The change in data indicates that the U.S. has counted too many shots as first doses when they are instead second doses or booster shots, this is the conclusion reached by Axios analysts.
