Naomi H. sure is a smart and talented girl, otherwise – she wouldn’t have gotten accepted for a NASA Internship program: however brains and talent aren’t always enough.

What Naomi lacks is politeness. The girl was so excited after getting the news she would get to work at NASA, she tweeted:

“EVERYONE SHUT THE FUCK UP! I GOT ACCEPTED FOR A NASA INTERNSHIP!”

Plain and clear: Naomi wanted all her haters to shut up, to make everyone envious and, to be honest, she had a good reason. But her obscene language ended up working against her.

Naomi soon received a response with just a short word:

“LANGUAGE”

The girl didn’t want to hear anything, especially – from the camp of her potential haters, so she immediately responded:

“SUCK MY DICK AND BALLS I’M WORKING AT NASA”

For a second she probably was really proud of herself, but what Naomi certainly didn’t expect is that the person she responded to in such brave and honest way was…a member of the National Space Council: the organization that oversees NASA, Homer Hickam, who told her so in the following way:

“AND I’M ON THE NATIONAL SPACE COUNCIL THAT OVERSEES NASA”

It is no surprise that Naomi soon lost her place as a NASA intern.

Let Naomi’s example serve as a cautionary tale of how rudeness and disrespect on social networks can cost you much more than you might expect.
