Staten Island man stabbed to death by new roommate for spending too much time in bathroom
A Staten Island resident killed his roommate after a dispute over bathroom access, police said Wednesday.
37-year-old Justin Gaston was fatally stabbed in his sternum on Tuesday and was found half naked in the bathtub and with a knife in his hand inside a small apartment on Jersey St. near Stanley Ave. in St. George.
However, police did not believe that it was a suicide.
Gaston’s roommate, Raiquan Becheam confessed in murdering only a few weeks, after the two men first arrived in the apartment used as a temporary shelter for the homeless, according to a police source.
37-year-old Becheam reportedly placed Gaston’s body in the tub after the fatal stabbing in another room.
“They were particularly arguing over time Gaston spent in the bathroom,” the source said.
Bechman was charged with murder and weapons possession.
