Plane slides off runway at North Carolina Airport and no injuries reported

431

A Delta Flight airplane briefly left the runaway at the North Carolina airport due to the weather conditions Friday, officials said.

No injuries among the 13 passengers on board on Delta Flight 5501 from Washington D.C. were reported. The plane reportedly “landed safely and rolled into the mud while taxiing,” the airport said.

According to the company’s statement, the plane’s nose gear exited the taxiway after landing at Raleigh-Durham International Airport in North Carolina. The place was safely towed away.

“We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience,” the statement said.

It was not clear what caused the plane to slide off the runaway.

A winter storm was sending snow over the region Friday evening. Winter storm warnings or advisories covered a swath from southeastern Virginia to Georgia early Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
