Armed man suspected in shooting of three Houston police officers arrested after standoff with police

An armed suspect in shooting of three Texas police officers was arrested Thursday following hour-long standoff.

The injured police officers were hospitalized in stable condition.

The Houston Police Department officers chased the suspect in a car, which the crashed and switched to another one carjacked at gunpoint.

Pursued by the police the unidentified 31-year-old suspect then barricaded himself inside a house. When the several police units surrounded the house, the suspect opened fire at them.

The police fired back but it was not known if the suspect was injured.

At one point, the suspect left the house and attempted to elude but was detained and arrested.

In the earlier shooting, one officer was shot in a foot, another in a leg and the third in an arm, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner said, according to reporter Jonathan Martin of FOX 26.

All three wounded cops were transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where they were listed in in stable condition.
