Two people shot and wounded at historic Indianapolis Jewish Community Center

299

Two people were shot and injured at a Jewish community center Saturday afternoon in Indianapolis, police said.

The gunfire occurred about 2 p.m. at 6701 Hoover Road and police ruled out the shooting as a hate crime. According to the preliminary investigation, the shooting unfolded from an argument during a basketball game at the gym inside the Jewish community center.

"The basketball game was part of open gym time at the facility," police said. "There is no indication this incident was religiously motivated or in any way a hate crime."

Two male victims with gunshot wounds were hospitalized in stable condition.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Roberto Sanchez at 317-327-3475 or Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS to remain anonymous.
