A Tampa man allegedly stabbed his fiancee 8 times during an argument over an engagement ring
A Tampa woman stabbed 8 times in the abdomen after an argument over an engagement ring.
31-year-old Armando Lagares II was stabbed his 23-year-old fiancée on December 18. The woman remains in a hospital where she spent two weeks in after the attack.
Armando Lagares II was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon involving great bodily harm and possession of synthetic marijuana.
Legares used a kitchen knife, the affidavit said.
The investigators received a search warrant for the man’s cellphone. According to the detectives, calls and text messages could provide details about the exchange of angry words between Lagares and the victim.
Lagares was arrested in Pinellas County 18 hours after the attack and denied stabbing his fiancée. He told the police she had called him for help and he went to her home.
A judge issued an injunction against him the following year, ordering him to stay away from the woman’s home.
