Dismembered torso of woman found stuffed in shopping cart in New York City
New York Police Department is investigating the dismembered torso of a woman found in a shopping cart on A Brooklyn street Thursday.
The gruesome discovery was made by a shocked passerby Pennsylvania and Atlantic Aves., an East New York intersection, police said.
The torso was stuffed in a plastic garbage bag and placed in a shopping cart. According to the reports, the body of what police believe to be an adult had no head or limbs. No other parts were found in the nearby area after the responding officers conducted search and canvass.
Police say, the torso did not have any visible stab or gunshot wounds. The identification of the body was difficult because it had no marks or tattoos.
Police were looking through surveillance videos in an attempt to identify the person who rolled the shopping cart to the scene.
The city Medical Examiner will determine how the woman died and try to identify her, possibly through a DNA match since fingerprints and dental records are not a possibility, the source said.
