East Texas Couple Abused Woman, Locked Her in Dog Kennel Without Food and Water
MALAKOFF, TX — August 29, 2018
According to the Malakoff Police Department, a couple was arrested when a 70-year-old woman called the police and said that she had been assaulted at a home on Wesley Street in Malakoff. The victim told police that she had been staying with a female relative and the relative’s boyfriend.
She also said the couple coerced her into a dog kennel and chained her in handcuffs. Then they allegedly forced the victim to stay outside in the heat until she threw up. At that point, she was locked in the dog kennel without any food or water.
In addition, the couple repeatedly mocked her and tried to drown her in a bathtub, and the man forced her to eat dog poop. The victim also claimed that the woman kicked her in the crotch, and held her to the ground with her knee, causing a bruise on her breast. The woman also allegedly kicked the victim and forced her to walk on broken glass.
“[The victim] also stated that she was stripped naked down to her panties and forced to walk on the glass that she [Leonnia Darlene Anderson Castillo] broke by throwing at her,” the affidavit stated.
Also, the couple completely deprived the woman of money, seized her Bankcard and withdrew all disability money from it. The couple also allegedly refused to buy food for the victim.
“She stated that they would yell at her and not let her drink or eat,” the affidavit stated.
The victim said relatives tried to come and get her from the residence on Wesley Street, but the woman wouldn’t let them.
Officers with the Malakoff Police Department arrested the couple after the police found out about the incident.
The couple was identified as Leonnia Darlene Anderson Castillo, 47, of Log Cabin. Now she is held in the Henderson County Jail on a first-degree felony injury to the elderly charge. Her bond amount has been set at $50,000.
The second suspect Tommy Lee Anderson, 49, of Malakoff, was booked into the Henderson County Jail on a felony unlawful restraint exposing to serious bodily injury charge on Aug. 25, and he was released from the jail on Aug. 27 after he posted bail on a $15,000 bond amount.
According to the affidavit, the alleged abuse occurred between January 5 and August 22. On August 22, relatives were finally able to pick the victim up, and they took her to Mesquite.
While the victim was talking to the MPD officer, he noticed that she had a bruised left eye, numerous red, circular sores on her back, and cuts on her feet. She also had what looked like a hand print on her left arm.
