HOUSTON, TEXAS — September 18, 2018

The woman's body was well hidden until the killer's mother accidentally looked into his room. In particular, she was surprised why the recycling bin was in the room rather than in the back garden. And even more interestingly, she found this trash bin under the floor in the middle of the room.

According to the police report, Alex Akpan, 24, is accused of killing 23-year-old Irene Yemitan at the home he shared with his parents in Houston, Texas.

As reported after lifting the lid, the woman reportedly saw the foot of the dead woman who had been placed head first in the bin.

She then tripped and knocked the bin over to discover 23-year-old Irene Yemitan's body inside.

The terrified woman immediately informed Alex Akpan's step-father who performed CPR on Yemitan - but was later pronounced dead after medics arrived.

Investigation showed that there were no noticeable marks on 23-year-old's body but the appearance of her eyes indicated she had been strangled. A post-mortem on her body confirmed that this was the most likely cause of death.

It took the police a week to identify the girl after sharing photos of her face and the clothes she was wearing when she died.

According to recent data, the victim was an aspiring beauty stylist and student at Houston Community College, and she is believed to have met her alleged killer only days before.

Akpan was a fellow community college student who studied computer science. The failed couple began to exchange texts in the intervening days and visited his home with the witness on several occasions - including the day before her body was discovered.

According to the witness, Akpan had reportedly grown angry after Yemtian parked her car outside his home, and began screaming and throwing chairs in a fit of rage.

The day before Yemitan posted a video which said she hoped to start a hair business in the future.

"Where have I been? What have I been doing? Hold up, I have some explaining to do,' she told her viewers. "I've been at school, that's what I've been doing. School, living my best life."

"I do have some things I wanna tell Y'all, but it's a surprise," she then said. "I'll share that with y'all later. Anyways, I can't complain. I'm blessed, I'm happy, I'm doing what I need to do. I'm taking care of myself."

Akpan is currently being held on a $250,000 bond at Harris County Jail. Prosecutors say Akpan was an 'extreme danger to the community' and said he posed a flight risk after his family attempted to send him to Nigeria.

It is also alleged that he threatened his sister with a gun last year.

The killer's mother said that she had not noticed anything strange son, although in recent years he began to disappear and bring home strange men and this girl. She also noted that she had repeatedly heard Akpan and Yemitan screaming at each other
