FORDHAM, BRONX – May 28, 2018

MTA passenger bus killed 7-year-old boy Shevon Bethea. Police are investigating this incident now.

It's known, the boy was riding a scooter when he was struck on East 184th St. and Webster Avenue in Fordham Heights around 3:30 p.m.

Shevon was taken to St. Barnabus Hospital. The doctors tried to save him, but was later pronounced dead.

Officer said the bus driver remained at the scene. Also, he confirms that the driver had the green light. Nobody knows where the child's parents were at the time of the incident. Witnesses who were in bus said that the sidewalk is tucked behind a building, so the bus driver could not see the boy in time.

"This is a tragic situation and our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of this young boy. We are working closely with police." said MTA spokesperson.
