FORDHAM MANOR, BRONX — October 1, 2018
The passions continue today. Police in the Bronx have arrested a man who is accused of groping a 12-year-old girl.
Authorities say the girl was in the vicinity of Jerome Avenue and West 193rd Street in the Bronx on Wednesday shortly before 5:30 p.m. when she noticed a man taking photos of her from behind.
The man then ran over to her and grabbed her buttocks before fleeing down Jerome Avenue.
Police described the man as a Hispanic male, 5'5", approximately 160 pounds, with dark hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a white T-shirt, black pants, and black sneakers.
Xavier Rodriguez, 24, was taken into custody Sunday evening and faces charges of sex abuse and forcible touching. He could face up to 15 years.
The girl’s parents say she may have misunderstood the man’s actions but she's frightened.
“She said the man seemed to want to attack her, but he only hit her buttocks. This is also very unpleasant. And we ask the police to investigate,” said the head of the family.
