#MeToo rally attendant raped hours after rally
Springfield, Missouri - October 13, 2018
#MeToo's momentum continues with a new sex scandal hitting one very powerful man. But this time, it involves an active member of the movement. It happened just hours after she attended a #MeToo rally on Saturday to support survivors of sexual assault.
The rapist is Zachary Alperin, 22, a Missouri State University student.
According to a probable cause statement, the woman met up with Alperin on Saturday after she attended the #MeToo rally at Park Central Square.
Alperin and the woman went to some bars in downtown Springfield and then went back to the woman's room on the MSU campus, and she allowed Alperin to sleep in her room, she confessed to police. Who know what she was thinking about, letting a drunk young man sleep next to her, but, of course, she told him not to touch her because she was intoxicated, according to the statement.
The statement says the woman told police she went to sleep and then woke up in the middle of the night to find Alperin naked on top of her.
The woman alleged that Alperin was performing sex acts on her and she pushed him away.
Zachary Alperin was charged with second-degree rape and sodomy. The rape and sodomy charges carry possible 7-year prison sentences.
He was being held in the Greene County Jail on $20,000 bond. He did not have an attorney listed for this case.
