Stoned-out Junkie Man Killed Most of the Family
HUSTON, TEXAS — May 31, 2018
A man under the influence of illegal drugs killed a Houston teen and injured her father in a car crash.
It happened at Westpark and Dunvale in Houston, as Nicole Baez was in the backseat with her 17-year-old sister, Britney Baez. They were headed to the movies, the family stopped at the light, and then the unimaginable happened.
"I just remember sitting down on the sidewalk, my mom was still screaming my sister's name," said Nicole. "I can hear my dad asking for water. I could sort of see people around me. That's when my arm started killing me."
According to police, a car driven by Edy Lopez-Hernandez crashed into them. Britney Baez was killed in the incident. Nicole's arm was fractured, and her critically injured father is now in the hospital.
Also, it turns out that Lopez-Hernandez had been previously twice-deported after several court decisions due to a drug problem. Now he faces four charges, including murder.
Lopez-Hernandez was going 70 miles per hour, before the crash and didn't use his brakes. After the accident, police say he grabbed his 2-year-old child out of the car and ran down the street before someone stopped him.
