BREAKING! Federal News Agency Files Lawsuit Against Facebook
SAN FRANCISCO – November 21, 2018
After war was declared both by the mainstream American media and the biggest social networks controlled by Washington against our site, as well as on our colleagues from the Federal News Agency, after the numerous attempts to force us “keep quiet” and stop talking about the issues hidden and muted by the vast majority of the mass media in the U.S., the Federal News Agency had no other option but to file a lawsuit against Facebook—the very image of crooked American social media.
Zuckerberg’s totalitarian empire has struck USA Really numerous times, blocking our accounts, forcing us to leave the platform where we had so many followers, during the global purge initiated by the censors under the mask of “freedom fighting” and even several times before the so-called “war on fakes” was declared as the final stage in this ridiculous witch-hunt. And our colleagues from the Federal News Agency fell under attack well before the wave of censorship hit us, so in our opinion they have every right to defend themselves.
On November 20, 2018, the Federal News Agency Inc. filed a complaint against Facebook, Inc. in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. The Federal News Agency is a St. Petersburg-based news organization that provides news coverage to Russian-speaking people primarily within the Russian Federation. In April of this year, Facebook deleted the Federal News Agency’s Facebook account, depriving them of their right to provide news to tens of thousands of followers.
The complaint alleges that Facebook has violated the terms of its user agreement by deleting the Federal News Agency account when the agency was in complete compliance with the terms of the community. The complaint also alleges that Facebook violated the Federal News Agency’s rights to freedom of speech and discriminated against the Federal News Agency on the basis of its national origin.
Freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and freedom of expression are all rights enshrined in the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. The complaint recognizes that the internet is a public forum open to all, but because of its market dominance, Facebook acts as a public entity with the ability to shut down these very important rights. The complaint alleges that Facebook has been engaged in content-based censorship and has thereby violated the U.S. Constitution.
According to Evgeniy Zubarev, the head of the Federal News Agency, “We had to take this action, because this is all about the freedom of speech. No company or organization should have the power to stifle news or opinions it does not agree with.”
The Federal News Agency is represented by Dennis E. Boyle, Senior Counsel to Whiteford, Taylor and Preston, LLP located in Washington, DC.
USA Really strongly supports the decision of our colleagues from the Federal News Agency, as we stand for true American values, such as the freedom of speech and the freedom of expression.
