It’s High Time to Reassess Trump’s Immigration Policy

More and more Americans are concluding that POTUS was right about the immigrants, though still not many of them are capable of making an impact on the state of affairs. Ultimately, American society is likely to be shattered into several “opinion-camps”: The most radical opponents of Trump in his “Trump-being” will strictly stick to their anti-president propaganda to the very end, overlooking the evidence; some will change their political preferences emulating ex-Dems as the party “has rotted”; some will remain silent on immigration flaws, pretending politics is none of their business. Anyway, one thing is clear: Sooner or later, everyone is going to acknowledge Trump was right.

There is no need to recall how many times Mr. Trump has openly expressed his view on immigrants, the wall that should be paid for by Mexico and the crime immigrants bring into America. The New York Times even published a revealing article concerning the “myth” that immigration drives crime, relying on “many studies.” Washington Post, National Public Radio, USA Today and many other mainstream and local media also side with the ardent anti-Trump “coalition.”

Meanwhile, the President remains indefatigable, talking about “drug dealers, criminals and rapists”:

A few days ago, Mexican journalist Alex Backman released a stunning expose on the “wonderful” migrants attempting to cross the American border illegally.

He says the migrants carjack cars when they see there is just one occupant, raping people, robbing and stealing in Mexico. They also choose severe methods for fighting the police: The caravaners are throwing large rocks at officers that could kill them.

If they see anyone trying to film them through a car window, they stop the car and demand the phone, possibly because “they have criminal histories.”

Backman also says President Peno Nieto hasn’t done anything about it except to provide them with supplies and medical help. Nearly half of Mexicans disapprove of the massive invasion, but the government doesn’t care.

About 9,000 migrants are currently moving through Mexico in caravans, according to officials in Baja, California. There are also caravans coming from Brazil, Columbia, and Venezuela, as a man within the Mexican government told Backman.

The Department of Homeland Security reported that 6,000 are now amassed at the border and at least 500 of them are criminals.

Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández told Vice President Mike Pence that “the caravan was organized by leftist organizations.”

Left-wing organizations are providing assistance. They include the coalition CARA Family Detention Pro Bono Project, which stands for the Catholic Legal Immigration Network, the American Immigration Council, the Refugee and Immigration Center for Education and Legal Services and the American Immigration Lawyers Association. At least three of the groups are funded by George Soros’ Open Society Foundation, Townhall reports.

However, this remains controversial as no one knows for sure whether Soros is involved somehow in all these “caravan stories” or not. For instance, after Kelly Johnston, a vice president at Campbell Soup, tweeted about Soros funding the caravan, he was fired. Moreover, some media have already dug into the details of that rumor and found no connection between him and the immigrants.

Anyways, the Mexicans themselves turned to the President’s side admitting Trump was right about the migrants. During the protest on November 18, one protester screamed at the illegal migrant caravan, “Donald Trump was right! This is an invasion.”

Apparently, all these facts have not influenced U.S. District Judge Jon S. Tigar’s decision to block the Trump administration from refusing asylum to migrants who cross the US southern border illegally, which was stated in a proclamation by President Trump signed on November 9.

Meanwhile, thousands of migrants, including criminals and former deportees, are still planning to rush the border illegally and have even practiced jumping the fence.

“They have that intention,” Sergio Tamai, a founder of Angels without Borders, a group helping the migrants, told Telemundo 20 in San Diego. “I believe that thousands could make that jump.”

“Most of us, yes, we want to be on the other side,” Jorge Molina, a Honduran migrant, told Telemundo. “Some want to jump over the wall, others to go another way, and others want to wait and see what kind of response they get.”

In the meantime, “the kind of response” they’ll get doesn’t depend much on the President’s decision, as the Posse Comitatus Act prohibits the military from using force to execute the laws. The exception is by express authorization from the Constitution or Congress, not the President.

“If an army unit along the border sees an agent in distress or is informed of one, the general view is that they can probably go to their aid to safeguard themselves or the agent,” George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley told CBS News’ Sara Cook.

“But in terms of the systemic use of the military like we have today, this is far more problematic and runs contrary to statutory and constitutional norms. What the president has done would not normally be viewed as a legitimate use of the military. There have been no reports of agents at risk along the border. The use of the military to law down concertina wire and perform tasks gets dangerously close to law enforcement functions.”

Under these conditions, if they want to storm the border as they have threatened, they will succeed. The illegals are being invited by leftists — Democrats — in this country and they have their backs.
