US Border Patrol Overwhelmed: US Borders Only Symbolic Lines on a Map!

There is not a better source information at times than Homeland Security’s own Office of Public Affairs. This is at least the case when reporting how there is a Humanitarian and Security Crisis faced on the Southern Border and how it nearing a 'Breaking Point." The number of Illegal Immigrants has "Hit a 12-Year High; More than 76,000 Migrants Crossed in February alone."

What did they expect?

With all the fanfare over build the wall, much like the rhetoric of banning guns after each subsequent mass shooting, the reaction is to buy more guns. The same now with an exodus of people from Central and South America searching for the American Dream—the more the merrier.

Officially the U.S. Border Patrol is currently encountering illegal immigration at the highest rates since 2007, and this February more a new record was set with more than double the level of migrants crossed the border without authorization compared to the same period the previous year.  It comes as no surprise, and the MSM states that the number of monthly crossings approaching the largest numbers reported for any month in the last 12 years, at least according to The New York Times.

The picture painted, most likely real, describes processing centers filled to capacity, border agents struggling to meet medical needs and thousands of exhausted members of migrant families crammed into a detention system that was not built to house them — all while newcomers continue to arrive, sometimes by the busload, at the rate of 2,200 a day.

Kirstjen M. Nielsen, Secretary of US Homeland Security tells how the politics and policies of open borders has been a failure and the system is broken.  The result is an ongoing humanitarian, a security crisis as well on the Southwest Border. This leaves many minors and families at extreme risk of being exploited by traffickers, human smugglers, gangs, and other nefarious actors seeking to profit at their expense,” he said

Nielsen lays much of the blame on human rights activist, congressional inaction, and criminals who are hell bent “on breaking our laws and how they stand in the way of confronting illegal and uncontrolled migration threatening our safety and security. He sums up the current crisis as “being a full-fledged emergency.’”

Naturally he works for Trump and such remarks are like sweet music to the ears for many Americans who still stand behind the president in building the wall, hell or high-water.

Nielsen explains how, “This cannot be a partisan issue,” and that is not experiencing something that has not be warned. He explained how every DHS Secretary since the Department’s inception after 9/11 has sounded the alarm about our unsecured border and its consequences.

Will a wall be enough?

It depends, as the US border is long and innovation ways can be found over it, under it and around it. One only needs to look at the borders between Gaza and Egypt to get one’s eyes adjusted.

This is why Trump supporters and many others, still want a wall.  They are supported by the numbers is shouting even louder, and only God knows how many are actually getting into the US. It appears that only recently the US border guard has had the political support to fully do their assigned tasks.

- New data shows that more than 76,000 aliens were apprehended or deemed inadmissible at a port of entry in February, a 12-year high.

- More than 2,000 aliens are being apprehended every day at the Southern border. But how many are actually getting across and not being caught?

- Border Patrol has apprehended over 268,000 individuals since the beginning of the fiscal year, marking a 97% increase from the previous year.

- There has been an unprecedented surge of illegal alien families arrive on the US border, with more than 40,000 apprehended and deemed inadmissible in February.

- If those numbers are not threatening enough, the trends are. For instance, this fiscal year (FY) to date, there has been a more than 300%increase in the number of family units apprehended compared to the same time period last fiscal year.

- Apprehensions of family unit aliens and Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC) have surged by 338% and 54% respectively this year.

- There has been a wave of large migrant groups flooding to the border.

- 70 large groups of 100 or more individuals have attempted to cross the border so far this fiscal year, compared with only 13 the previous year.

- Many of the migrants arriving at our border are requiring medical assistance, further straining resources and personnel on the ground.

- Customs and Border Protection is executing a new directive to expand existing medical service contracts and deploy additional medical personnel to the border.

Injury to Insult

To make a bad situation even worse, with this mass flow of “migrants” some all the illicit materials, drugs, gangs and sexual exploitation. In fact it is likely one of the most profitable cottage industries with human traffickers meeting the need.

- In the last two years alone, ICE officers have arrested 266,000 aliens with criminal records including those convicted of nearly 100,000 assaults, 30,000 sex crimes, and 4,000 homicides.

- In Texas, 276,000 criminal aliens were booked into local jails between June 1, 2011 and December 31, 2018, of which over 186,000 were classified as illegal aliens by DHS.

- Last year, ICE officers removed more than 10,000 known or suspected gang members already in our country illegally.

- Each week, approximately 300 Americans have died from heroin overdoses, of which nearly 90% comes across our southern border.

- Just last month, CBP made the largest seizure fentanyl ever recorded attempting to cross the southern border. It was enough to kill more than 115 million Americans.

- Alarmingly, CBP has reported that fentanyl smuggling between ports of entry at the southern border has more than doubled over our last fiscal year.  Fentanyl was responsible for more than 28,400 overdose deaths variety of Americans in 2017.  Just a few weeks ago, CBP made its largest fentanyl bust in U.S. history, seizing 254 pounds hidden in a truck trailer compartment.

- One in three women are sexually assaulted on the journey to the border.

- In FY 2018, ICE made more than 1,500 human trafficking arrests – 97% of them for sex-trafficking.

- 20,000 children were illegally smuggled into the United States during the month of December, alone.

- In the first five months of fiscal year 2018, CBP saw a 315% increase in individuals using children to pose as family units to gain entry into the United States.

- CBP has recorded a 50% spike over the last fiscal year of the number of gang members apprehended at the southern border.

Hate to tell you so!

So you have it, Trump has the numbers and the emergency situation as described in backing his effort to make good on his campaign promises, much to the dismay of the democrats and others.  Already Hispanics are the largest minority in the US, having surpassed blacks and are not prove to being lining up at Planned Parenthood abortion clinics.

I suspect not building the wall can potentially change the entire demographics in a few years to come of the US and the face of US politics forever. However, what effect will a wall actually have, as based on local observations on the Southern Border, as described in UK’s Independent, one border County sheriff Tom Schmerber says that his vision for ramped up border security does not include a wall.

Already his county has a natural barrier – the river – and he says it is pretty effective. Instead and considers a wall as a piece of technology which is outdated, if not an archaic tool at best

As for drugs, “The drugs are coming in by the air; they’re actually coming in through the ports. It’s not the river like they’re saying and describes how anybody can cross a wall. They can dig a tunnel. Or they can go over,” he continues. “If people want to cross it, they’re going to cross it.”

In the final analysis, the Southern Border is not Israel, and much of the problem south of the Border has a Made in America label on it.  And likely in the end, if a wall is constructed, it will be a monument to Trump’s own political rhetoric.

I wonder what they will consider next for cost effective border protection: minefields and killer drones?
