Fearless Facebook Now Blocks White House Social Media Director
WASHINGTON, D.C. – March 19, 2019
White House Social Media Director and assistant to the President Dan Scavino Jr. was temporarily blocked from making public Facebook comments on Monday evening. Facebook abruptly censored Scavino’s account, blocking him for responding to a question from a reader.
Scavino posted a screenshot of the ban with the caption, “Dear Facebook
AMAZING. WHY ARE YOU STOPPING ME from replying to comments followers have left me – on my own Facebook Page!!?? People have the right to know. Why are you silencing me??? Please LMK! Thanks.”
The ban itself claimed that “some of your comments have been reported as spam,” and that “to avoid getting blocked again,” he should “make sure [his] posts are in line with the Facebook Community Standards.”
The message from Facebook does not specify which comments were flagged or what standard they had violated.
Addressing the ban, Donald Trump Jr. tweeted, “As I’ve been saying. This is a disgusting abuse of power, and of course it only goes one way.”

President Trump reacted to this Facebook censorship act as well by posting:
"Facebook abruptly censored the account of President Trump’s chief social media guru, blocking him for simply responding to a question from a reader."#StopTheBias
Scavino was involved with Donald Trump's presidential campaign since it began in June 2015. In February 2016, Trump appointed Scavino as the campaign's director of social media. On December 22, 2016, Scavino was announced as the White House Director of Social Media. Previously he was the general manager of Trump National Golf Club Westchester.
Scavino is responsible for several of the president's and White House's social media accounts. He has been with the president for years.
His accounts have a tremendous following, so a block on Facebook has a big impact. There are already over 1000 comments on his page, including:
“Cory Critser Dan Scavino Daniel Scavino Jr. ... I think it’s time for some Senate hearings with Facebook on there attempts to influence the election.”
Another said, “Taylor Chavez The president of the United States’ personal assistant is being blocked from speaking to Fans by Facebook because of what reason? Well we know the Excuse but we don’t know the reason.”
In September 2018, Facebook silently suspended USA Really’s page and group on its platform for no reason, as we reported.
In October 2018, The Federal News Agency (FAN), based in Russia, filed a lawsuit against Facebook Inc. in the Northern California Federal district court (San Francisco). The basis for the claim is the blocking of FAN’s Facebook account that took place on April 3, 2018 without any explanation.
What is even more disgusting is that Facebook tolerates ISIS’s presence on the platform, as the study says.
