Bill Kristol Tries To Stop Trump's “Salute To America” On The 4th of July Celebration in D.C.
HOLD THE DATE! We will be having one of the biggest gatherings in the history of Washington, D.C., on July 4th. It will be called “A Salute To America” and will be held at the Lincoln Memorial. Major fireworks display, entertainment and an address by your favorite President, me!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 24, 2019
#NeverTrump leader Bill Kristol is not a fan of President Trump’s plan to host a fireworks show in D.C. this year to celebrate the 4th of July and he’s looking for ways to stop it:
Re July Fourth in Washington. Aren't there things we can do to try to save #AnAmericanFourth? It's the nation's capital, not Donald Trump's. Those familiar with the laws and regs governing the Park Service and D.C. government will have ideas; Congress could certainly weigh in.— Bill Kristol (@BillKristol) June 18, 2019
There's often little we citizens can do to affect the behavior of a president. But the prospect of Trump's spoiling the celebration of July 4th in Washington is infuriating. It's our holiday not his. Why should we sit back and let him disfigure it? Let's save #AnAmericanFourth!— Bill Kristol (@BillKristol) June 18, 2019
Of course he does.— Charlie Sykes (@SykesCharlie) June 18, 2019
"The 4th of July celebrationhas long been a grand pageant of democracy, a family-friendly event that transcends ideology and partisanship. Trump intends to turn it into a cult-of-personality political rally in honor of himself." https://t.co/cTG6THS0MK
And we at Defending Democracy Together stand ready to help with the project of saving #AnAmericanFourth. We'd be grateful for your ideas for legislative, legal, administrative or civic action. Just tweet ideas to @democracydefend, and we'll do our best on behalf of the Fourth. https://t.co/YM52uZxBFy— Bill Kristol (@BillKristol) June 18, 2019
But not only Bill Kristol seems to be unhappy with Trump's ambitious plan for the celebration.
But Reddit users' opinions are divided although they are mostly positive and show the people's true attitude, beyond the politics and hate to Trump, to the Holiday.
