Left A 3-Year-Old Child Home Alone And Went Drinking. Georgia Mom Arrested
Kelly May Algar, a 36-year-old woman is accused of reckless conducting and cruelty to children in the first degree, according to the county Sheriff's Office spokesman Cpl. Doug Rainwater.
Algar allegedly left her 3-years-old child home alone and went drinking at the Good Ol' Days Bar and Grill bar with her boyfriend after midnight Saturday. The child spent "several hours" alone.
Rainwater said Algar and the man went to the Good Ol’ Days Bar and Grill on Atlanta Road in Cumming about 1:40 a.m. Saturday and closed the restaurant down. About 2 a.m., the pair went outside, and the man collapsed for unknown reasons. They both were taken to the Northside Hospital-Forsyth where they found to be in extremely intoxicated state.
Later she applied to the hospital staff saying she urgently needed to get home back to her child, "to take care of her child". One of the staff members immediately called authorities who then found the child alone in Algar's home.
“This child to our knowledge had been in this house for not just a few minutes but for a few hours in this house alone,” Cpl. Doug Rainwater with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office said.
Algar was booked into the Forsyth County Jail and released Monday on a $22,730 bond, Rainwater said. Authorities have not released the man’s name or indicated if he faces any charges. His relationship to Algar and the child is unclear.
