Man with a Mental Disability Struck Down NYC Woman with a Hammer and Left Her to Die
BROWNSVILLE, BROOKLYN — June 19, 2018
After it happened, he dragged her outside naked and then attempted to flee.
According to police, a 68-year-old woman was beaten with a hammer by her neighbor. She was in her third-floor apartment in Brownsville, when her neighbor broken down the door with a hammer.
He hit her repeatedly in the head with the hammer, stripped her and took her down the stairs and then outside, where he damaged several cars. The victim's niece said the man also stabbed her.
"After the horrifying beating that he gave her he dragged her outside naked and tossed her into the street like she was a piece of trash," the victim's niece told. "My aunt was taken to Brookdale Hospital and she had two surgeries done on her brain. The skull fragments had entered the brain. Doctors couldn't stop the bleeding in her head."
After the attack the man ran back into his own apartment, a floor below the victim’s. He was still holding the hammer and also had a knife when police officers opened the door, said Brooklyn North Assistant Chief Jeffrey Maddrey. They shocked the man with a stun gun and took him into custody.
The suspect, identified as Ryan Wilson, suffers from mental illnesses. He was officially charged with attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
