Exemplary Duplicity of the Redditors: Two identical situations and two different verdicts

291

On the popular Internet site Reddit, one of the users, under the pseudonym “CarelessAdeptness”, noted that the audience reacted very “differently” to literally identical incidents. In his publication, Redditor compared a recent rally in Russia, where a teenager, Olga Misik, was reading the Constitution of the Russian Federation surrounded by police officers and the situation with an American Protestant, who was also surrounded by police officers.

The results of polls and opinions differ widely. In the case of Russia, the post gained 67 thousand approvals, where each user praised the girl for her courage and law enforcement agencies were demonized.

On the other hand, a post about an American Protestant was presented. More than half of users condemned his actions and defended the police. Explaining that “he could just get up and leave,” or that “the police did their job,” while insulting a person for the legitimate manifestation of freedom of speech and peaceful protest.

This very clearly demonstrates how the media manipulate the facts and convey to the minds of Americans “their case”, demonizing some and protecting others. It becomes obvious that the "country of freedom and opportunity" turns a blind eye to atrocities against the Americans, but loudly announces the illegal actions of the authorities of other countries.
