A Man Is Killed for the Second Time in Plainfield
NEW JERSEY — June 28, 2018
A man named Michael Welsh, 34-years-old, was killed in a gunfight near New and West 5th Streets. Neighbors called 911 after hearing the gunshots.
According to police, two people were found suffering from gunshot wounds when they arrived around 1 a.m. at the scene. One of them was a 25-year-old city woman. Another was Welsh.
He was rushed to the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital but was pronounced dead roughly one hour later.
The woman, whom authorities did not publicly identify, remains hospitalized in critical condition, according to the prosecutor's office.
This incident is under investigation by the county's homicide task force and local law enforcement.
This is perhaps because of attempted murder in 2009, when six bullets landed Michael Welsh in critical condition at a local hospital when he and two others were shot in Plainfield. That time he survived his injuries.
