Zombie Blackouts in Florida
FLORIDA – May 24, 2018
Residents of a Florida city who received alerts about a power outage were also warned to look out for zombies.
More than 7,000 customers lost power "due to extreme zombie activity." Electricity was restored within 30 minutes.
City spokesman Ben Kerr later posted a Facebook message saying officials were investigating the bogus alert and that he wanted to "reiterate that Lake Worth does not have any zombie activity currently."
Some media reported that Lake Worth falsely sent out a zombie alert during the power outage.
“We are looking into reports that the system mentioned zombies,” said the city’s public information officer Ben Kerr.
In February, the National Weather Service sent out a monthly test notice about tsunamis. Some of the emergency agencies then told their customers a storm was imminent.
In January a technical error sent a warning about an imminent ballistic-missile threat to residents of Hawaii.
