On last year's gang murder of 15-year-old Lesandro "Junior" Guzman-Feliz in the Bronx on June 20, 2018, October 11, a verdict was issued. The jury decided to convict five criminals of intentional homicide.

The investigation, after examining the evidence and watching the video evidence, proves that the five gang members first pursued the frightened schoolboy, overtook him in the store and then, pulling him out into the street, cut him and stabbed him with knives and a machete.

Jonaiki Martinez Estrella, Jose Muniz, Elvin Garcia, Manuel Rivera and Antonio Rodriguez Hernandez Santiago had been found guilty by a jury on June 14, 2019 of first-degree Murder, second-degree Murder, second-degree Conspiracy and second-degree Gang Assault.

The verdict:

Jonaiki Martinez Estrella was sentenced to Life without Parole for first-degree Murder, 25 years to Life for second-degree Murder, 8 1/3 to 25 years for second-degree Conspiracy and 15 years in prison and five years post-release supervision for second-degree Gang Assault. Sentences to run concurrently.

Jose Muniz, Elvin Garcia and Antonio Rodriguez Hernandez Santiago were sentenced to 25 years to Life for first-degree Murder, 25 years to Life for second-degree Murder, 8 1/3 to 25 years for second-degree Conspiracy, and 15 years in prison and five years post-release supervision for second-degree Gang Assault. Manuel Rivera was sentenced to 23 years to Life for first-degree Murder, 23 years to Life for second-degree Murder, 5 to 15 years for second-degree Conspiracy and 15 years in prison and five years post-release supervision for second-degree Gang Assault.

According to prosecutors, the attackers hunted down the Junior in cars from his house and then brutally killed the teenager. After the attack, Guzman-Feliz was conscious and was even able to get to the nearest hospital, but unfortunately fell in front of the hospital, a few steps from the rescue. A forensic examination revealed multiple stab and slash wounds on the victim’s back and neck.
