A 14-year-old girl accused of killing an army veteran in Philadelphia
The body of the victim was discovered on Tuesday this week. It is reported that the man was tied up, slashed and beaten to death, the main suspect being a minor girl.
59-year-old Al Chernoff was found dead in his own house with a massive head injury. Two days after the discovery of the corpse, a murderer with a confession appeared at the local police station.
"It was a very brutal murder," Christine Coulter, acting commissioner for the Philadelphia Police Department said at a news conference. "And to think that there was anybody doing this, but a child, then you have to look at why did this happen."
According to police reports, a neighbor discovered the victim and called the rescue service. Due to the nature of the injuries and the fact that he was bounded, the police do not rule out sexual implications as part of the crime.
From the biography of Chernoff it is known that he was a former military man, and also was engaged in animal rescue. Last place of work was Philadelphia International Airport.
Investigators also have video from surveillance cameras showing a suspect walking through the victim’s house. According to court documents, the alleged 14-year-old killer is charged with manslaughter, robbery and fake evidence, the name of the suspect is not disclosed due to her age.
It is reported that in the house of the deceased there were more than ten pets, including cats, a turtle and other amphibians. According to official information, the girl did not touch the animals.
