Woman falls out of car during argument with husband and survives but another passing car hits and kills her
A family argue in the moving car ended with the death of a wife who fell out of the vehicle and was struck by another passing by car.
According to authorities the woman became upset with her husband when they were driving back from downtown Houston and began crawling out of the car going full speed fell onto the North Freeway. Initially she survived the fall but a passing car hit and killed her. Both drivers, her husband and the one who run her over stopped and stayed at the scene.
The name of the victim is not identified.
A secondary crash then happened when somebody crashed into one of the cars of the people that stopped to help the victim. A third – and unrelated incident – occurred when a driver was stopped for driving under the influence at the scene of the initial accident.
“The second vehicle also stopped to try to help the woman. So the traffic behind them, they had to slam on their breaks and there was an accident that happened here. Unfortunately, one of the drivers in that accident, unrelated to the fatality, left the scene and so we are investigating that accident as well,” said Sgt. David Rose of the Houston Police to ABC News’ Houston station KTRK.
Later it became known that the woman had been drinking before that while her husband was sober. The investigation of the separate incidents brought to several hours’ closure of the northbound lanes.
"You just got to be prepared to make sudden stops on the freeway. You never know what's going to happen." Sgt. Rose said.
