Actress of “Big Bang Theory” Announces Thanksgiving as “One of the Grossest Examples of Genocide”
On the official YouTube channel of the popular actress and star of the show “The Big Bang Theory” Mayim Bialik, a clip appeared on the eve of Thanksgiving, which briefly talked about the origins of the national holiday.
“History is written by the winners. I grew up coloring pictures of pilgrims and indigenous people -- we called them Indians when I was a child -- having this beautiful Thanksgiving together.”
In a 4-minute video, Bialik reminded everyone where the turkey-eating feast comes from. The actress divided the video into two parts, in the first - she indicated four reasons for not loving this holiday and the fourth reason she pointed to the truth, to what preceded Thanksgiving and what the whole nation is turning a blind eye to.
“The truth is, European invaders came to this land, took it from the indigenous people, raped, pillaged, gave them all sorts of diseases, called it their own, and desecrated a culture. It is one of the grossest examples of genocide in recent history and much as I don’t want to think about that, it’s really hard for me not to think about that when I think about Thanksgiving.”
The audience on social networks exploded from such a message. Nearly 100 percent of commentators said that Thanksgiving is something sacred to them, simply ignoring the story and the really terrible actions of “European invaders”.
