Arizona Woman, 92, Killed Her Son Who Tried Putting Her in Assisted Living
ARIZONA — July 4, 2018
Anna Blessing, 92, visited her son on Monday morning with two pistols that she had hidden in her robe; one that she had purchased from a gun store and the other obtained from her late husband.
"I argued with my son over the way I was being treated and was upset with him stating that he was going to place me in assisted living. I removed the handgun and fired multiple rounds striking and killing my son." she said to officers.
She then pointed the gun at her son's girlfriend and a struggle ensued.
The weapon was "dislodged" from Blessing's hand, after which she grabbed the second gun and tried to point it at the girlfriend, who knocked it out of her hand.
Her son's girlfriend then called police and Blessing was taken into custody. She was in a wheelchair at her initial court appearance Tuesday where her bond was set at $500,000 and a lawyer was appointed to represent her. She was charged with one count of first-degree murder, one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of kidnapping.
