“Acton Bowen, the evangelist who served as a youth minister for teenage boys and became a best-selling author was given the maximum sentence for all 28 charges related to sexually abusing six teenagers in Etowah County on Friday. The sentences are to be served consecutively which means Bowen would serve roughly 1,008 years before being released, reports ABC News.
Among nearly three dozen victims of a religious pedophile were children aged 12 to 16 years. According to Patheos, all children received money for sexual abuse. According to official information, Bowen began to commit sexual violence in 2006.
"I saw myself as damaged goods without realizing I'd been manipulated by a true professional," said one of the victims in a statement submitted during the hearing.
The statements also described how Bowen used lavish trips, clothing and money to lure the young men into spending time alone with him, according to abc3340.
If kids got raped by clowns as often as kids get raped by preachers it would be against the law to take your kid to the circus. https://t.co/ejL9TYOad8— Dan Savage (@fakedansavage) June 18, 2019
