A woman who shot her boyfriend due to a threat to her son’s life will not be prosecuted
A fatal accident shocked visitors of the Planet 3 Extreme Air Park in Flint Township, Michigan. On January 18, there was a family conflict, the result of which was a fight between a 14-year-old boy and his mother’s 43-year-old boyfriend. Mother twice pulled the trigger and eliminated the danger to her life, the life of her son and others.
“I believe her actions were reasonable under the law and I will not seek criminal charges against her.”, Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton announced at the press conference on Monday.
According to police reports, the family of the victims had a long history of domestic violence. Previously sentenced to 13 years in prison, Damon Hodges has also been repeatedly charged with excessive rigidity in relation to 9 other people, including children.
Returning to recent events, court documents say that a few minutes before the Hodges' death, he almost strangled a woman in a parking lot near an entertainment center. This was noticed by the driver of a car parked nearby and he called the police.
“The driver of the parked car then told police he heard the woman telling someone to call 911, though he wasn’t sure if she was talking to him or someone inside the SUV,” reports The Daily Mail.
Later, the family headed inside the building, where the quarrel continued and escalated into a physical conflict. The son and mother, whose names were not disclosed, became victims of the brutal beating.
After Hodges inflicted several severe blows on the boy’s head and knocked him to the ground, his mother took out a gun and shot her boyfriend twice. Hodges died at the scene.
