State of Emergency Declared in California

YREKA – July 7, 2018

California governor Jerry Brown has declared the state of emergency as wild fires spread in Siskiyou County.

The fire, already occupying an area of 5.000 acres, has forced state officials to close Interstate 5 from Yreka to Ashland Oregon, and begin evacuations on Thursday afternoon.

State resources, including employees, provisions and facilities, will be devoted to battling the fire, according to the governor's announcement. The California Office of Emergency Services will provide assistance to Siskiyou County officials as needed.
