A man strung up a dog because she barked loudly and then beat a 16-year-old pet owner
Hunter, a 38-year-old Robert Leroy Edwards, was annoyed by the barking of a dog named Midnight. On the night of the incident, Edwards went out into the yard and hung the dog with an electric wire, then returned back to the house, woke up the 16-year-old dog owner and asked him to hide the corpse.
“When the child saw the dead dog, he refused to help hide its remains. In return, Edwards punched the child,” reports ABC News’ Tampa Bay affiliate WFTS.
"The incident occurred in Manatee County, Florida. According to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, Edwards hanged the Hunt family’s dog outside of their home with an electrical cord because the dog, a black Labrador Retriever, was barking" reports ABC News.
The owner of the house, Richard Hunt, said the man rented a room. That night, he heard a noise from the outside and, coming out, saw Edwards inflicting two strong blows in the face of his son.
“I can see her face that last minute, I can see her struggling, not understanding what’s going on, my heart, I mean, he’s such a scumbag to have done that to her,” said Hunt, according to ABC News.
When the police arrived at the scene, they found Midnight’s body hidden in a boat on the site.
“Edwards is being charged with battery, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and torture charges - two misdemeanors and a felony,” according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
The first hearing is scheduled for February 21. Robert Leroy Edwards will face felony charges and two misdemeanors.
