Armed man arrested in front of White House for intentions to kill US president
25-year-old Roger Hedgpeth was arrested Saturday near the White House after telling a secret service agent that he had come to kill Donald Trump.
According to The Daily Mail, Hedgpeth approached one of the agents and confessed his intentions to kill the head of the country, after which he was detained.
“I have a knife to do it with,” Hedgpeth said, according to a police report.
During the search, a hunter’s knives and an empty holster for a gun were revealed at the detainee. No firearm was found.
According to authorities, the suspect was mentally ill.
“Critically missing/endangered person as well as a mental health consumer,” the report says.
At the moment, the police are figuring out the motive and other details of the crime. Hedgpeth's car was also confiscated.
At the time of his arrest, US President Donald Trump was inside the White House. Now the authorities are finding out the address of the arrested. At the time of publication, information about the lawyer was not issued.
Over the past three years, this incident was the fourth attempt at an assassination attempt on the President of the United States of America.
