A black man seen wearing Ku Klux Klan outfit for his "social experiment" at VIrginia shopping center
A black man in the frames of his social experiment wore a KKK robe at a Virginia shopping center Tuesday. At least he explained his appearance that way to the sheriff’s deputies.
People at Stafford Marketplace called the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office around 2:30 p.m. to report of a man wearing the costume. Deputies arrived to investigate over the incident found the person in the robe, identified him as a black man and determined he didn’t live in the area.
The man left the scene after a warning from the deputies about wearing mask in public, according to Major Shawn Kimmitz. Virginia law prohibits wearing masks with the intent to conceal identity in public.
A photo posted to Twitter by a witness at the shopping center showed someone dressed in the white robe and hood talking to deputies while others looked on.
The sheriff's office didn't identify the man.
