Society supports black student racism against whites at the University of Virginia
The 37-second video posted on Twitter caused mixed reactions among tens of thousands of Americans. From the first shots, an African American student makes an announcement at the premises of the multicultural center at the University of Virginia (UVA).
A week after the publication of the video by the conservative group Young America's Foundation, the tweet received more than 17 thousand comments and more than 10 thousand retweets.
“Frankly, there are just too many white people in here, and this is a space for people of color, so just be really cognizant of the space that you’re taking up, because it does make some of us POCs uncomfortable when we see too many white people in here,” she says to the room. “There’s the whole university for a lot of y’all to be at, and there’s very few spaces for us, so keep that in mind."

This kind of racist intolerance is NOT multicultural. pic.twitter.com/XkefKqfqLA
The reaction to this announcement leave heads spinning. Obviously, exclusively white Americans fall under the concept of racism, since the vast majority of comments under the video praised the speaker and urged the university to support and protect the student.
Moreover, many commentators said plainly that racism against white people is impossible.
you can’t be racist to white people i’m so tired of having this discussion— baked beans (@melaninmom) February 13, 2020
This is an example of white privilege. White people are so used to having access to everything that being told somethings are for black/poc is considered racism to them. Of course they can argue what if white people did the same but they already have and still do so...— musiqjunki (@musiq_junki) February 15, 2020
After some time, the university issued an official statement.
“Earlier this month the university announced the relocation and expansion of its Multicultural Student Center as part of an effort to offer a variety of spaces that embrace and support the diversity of this institution,” it read. “In order to foster the diversity of experience and ideas that make UVA a great and good place to study and work, these centers are open to all members of the university community.”
According to statistics from the University of Virginia, for 2018, 57 percent of all students were white.
