Pigeons wearing MAGA hats and Trump wig released by protest group called P.U.T.I.N.
In the approaching 2020 Elections, the protest group, participants of which are — who do you think would be — pigeons, were released wearing MAGA hats and Trump wigs across the city of Las Vegas, Nevada, in what appeared to be a protest of the arrival of the 2020 Democratic candidates for the ninth presidential debate held last night at the Paris Theater.
The group has a half sarcastic and half provocative name P.U.T.I.N. which is Pigeons United to Interfere Now. And yes, pigeons support Trump.
“The release date was also coordinated to serve as a gesture of support and loyalty to President Trump,” the group said.
There is a video recently released by P.U.T.I.N. showing nearly two dozens of pigeons in a cage with MAGA hats on their heads and one single pigeon in the middle “adorned with a small, orange hairpiece, to commemorate that of their leader, President Donald J. Trump,” said P.U.T.I.N. The video ends when a hooded man in an apparent mask of the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, releases the birds to fly off into the wild.
“P.U.T.I.N. have used their pigeons to launch a one of a kind aerial protest piece in response to the arrival of the 2020 Democratic Presidential hopefuls for their scheduled debate on 2/19 in Las Vegas,” said P.U.T.I.N’s founder, Coo Hand Luke, in a statement released on Feb. 18.
However, not everybody found the image funny. One charity in Las Vegas says this is no laughing matter.
“[We have] been informed of the group reportedly using eyelash glue to glue MAGA hats to pigeons and releasing them in downtown Las Vegas to make a political statement,” said Lofty Hopes, a charity promoting the humane treatment of pigeons in a statement on Facebook. “The statement that was made is one of animal cruelty … The hats impair the birds vision, leaving them more prone to predation, window strikes, [and] being hit by cars.”
“The project was the result of months of exhaustive research, logistical hurdles and pigeon care taking.”
And Lofty Hopes have allegedly set some traps in an attempt to catch the birds in order to remove the headgear before they are injured or killed. It is not known if the group was able to catch at least one as of now
P.U.T.I.N. has not revealed whether there will be any other protests or stunts involving pigeons but assured that the pigeons are well cared for.
