GERMANTOWN, TN – July 10, 2018

Mellow Mushroom, Exline's Pizza, and Royal Panda – restaurants located in Germantown, near Memphis, Tennessee, have been charged with selling beer to minors. They have received fines up to $500 for the infraction. The owners have apologized.

Steve Meek, owner of Germantown’s Mellow Mushroom, has communicated with his staff that there will be a "zero-tolerance" policy in effect, and a corporate training program to help ensure this does not happen again is underway.

Matt Price, the city's chief attorney who presented the matter to the Board of Mayor and Alderman, said Exline's Pizza’s sale to the minor was an "isolated incident." Garrett Blatnik, president of Exline's Pizza, represented his company before the board.

Alderman John Barzizza recused himself from the Royal Panda vote stating that a "long-time friend" of his had sold the beer.

However, since the issue of selling beer to the minors is still an important issue for Tennessee, state authorities promise to pay as much attention to it as possible.
