FBI defends armed Americans saying that they prevent the threat and not create it
After analyzing all the incidents of an active shooting in the United States, the FBI came to the conclusion that in 80 percent of cases, active shooters were neutralized, because there were law-abiding Americans with firearms around them.
“Armed and unarmed citizens engaged the shooter in 10 incidents. They safely and successfully ended the shootings in eight of those incidents,” the report said. “Their selfless actions likely saved many lives.
Despite the dry statistics, left-wing politicians continue to adhere to the theory that the disarmed population will pose a lesser threat. Although in another language, an unarmed population should remain defenseless in the face of death and should rely only on police forces.
“In one incident, a citizen possessing a valid firearms permit exchanged gunfire with the shooter, causing the shooter to flee to another scene and continue shooting,” the report reads. “The enhanced threat posed by active shooters and the swiftness with which active shooter incidents unfold support the importance of preparation by law enforcement officers and citizens alike.”
Also, as part of the FBI investigation, a trend was identified in which armed Americans do not resort to using firearms in quarrels or in fits of anger. People only start shooting when they feel threatened.
“The overwhelming majority of the time, those guns are never drawn in anger,” wrote Paul Hsieh for Forbes.
“The value of firearms in the hands of law-abiding citizens should be measured in terms of lives saved or crimes prevented,” he said, according to the Federalist Papers, “Not criminals killed.”
