The government urges Americans to return to work at the height of the coronavirus: People do not want to die for the enrichment of the elite
The more the COVID-19 pandemic destroys the US economy, the more absurd offers we get from the government. The other day, US President Donald Trump said that he intends to remove people from quarantine earlier than doctors and epidemiologists recommend, in the hope that the impoverished US population will be happy to work, despite the mortal danger.
Twitter users tore statements from the president and big business with the hashtag # NotDying4WallStreet.
"America will again and soon be open for business. Very soon. A lot sooner than three or four months that somebody was suggesting," Trump said during a press briefing Monday evening.
Suffering huge financial losses, Goldman Sachs senior chairman Lloyd Blankfein also joined in with the president, citing the failing economy and urged Americans to go to work.
"Within a very few weeks let those with a lower risk to the disease return to work," said Blankfein, according to Common Dreams.
After these statements, the progressive advocacy group Swing Left tweeted.
The people of the United States are not stupid. They do not want to expose their lives for the sake of billionaires eager to preserve their wealth during a deadly pandemic.

"The economy" is not more important than people's lives.
That should be obvious, but it apparently is not.
When the elderly take to Twitter and declare that they're #NotDying4WallStreet and you wonder why it is that they're not content to surrender their lives to the altar of the economy, this thread might help you understand why.— 5'7" Black Male (@absurdistwords) March 25, 2020
