Philadelphia PD

PHILADELPHIA, PA — July 12, 2018

A major traffic accident occurred on northbound I-95 in Philadelphia, near the Girard Avenue exit, on Wednesday night.

A vehicle overturned and drove into oncoming traffic.

The incident completely paralyzed traffic in both directions. When police and an emergency team arrived at the scene, they discovered that the driver had died on the spot.

It is known that the road in this place is extremely difficult for drivers, but it is fully illuminated by the sea of lights.

Witnesses said that the driver was racing along at breakneck speed, even though that stretch of road is known to be extremely difficult and troublesome and, usually, drivers try to slow down there.

Crews began letting traffic through by around 6:30 a.m. The scene was fully cleared just before 7 a.m.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash. No injuries have been reported.
